If you have a hexagon bird feeder that seems to have seen better days, the temptation might be strong to go out and buy a shiny new one, but there is a much cheaper way to give it a fresh lease of life. Replacing the plastic tube that stores the bird food is a simple job, and one that could end up saving you some money.

In order to replace the tube in the feeder, the first step would be to take out the existing tube by unfastening any screws that secure it in its place. Then, survey the inside of the feeder for any fractures or gaps; if noticeable, they must be fixed with a combination of epoxy or silicone prior to inserting the new tube.

In order to prepare the new tube for installation, determine its ideal length. It should exceed that of the old tube, allowing for a successful insertion into the feeder. Appropriately cut the tube by means of a sharp knife or scissors.

Now is the moment to add a freshly-purchased tube into the feeder. Insert one side of the tube into the bottom of the apparatus first, then carefully thread the other end through the top. When it’s firmly in place, add just enough bird seed to fill it; make sure you adjust the quantity according to the size of your newly-installed tube.

After setting everything in place, all that is left to do is to secure the top and bottom of your hexagonal birdfeeder with screws, bringing it back to its former glory in no time.
